This file describes how to install Metis 5.0.2 in Windows and Metis-mex interface (D. Gleich). The process should be similar (or easier) for other platforms.

0) Get Metis 5.0.2: http://glaros.dtc.umn.edu/gkhome/fetch/sw/metis/metis-5.0.2.tar.gz and put it in the directory <BCDIC>\clustering\metis-5.0.2\

1) Install cmake

2) Change include/metis.h to be for 32/64 bits based on your system and compiler (first define: “#define IDXTYPEWIDTH “).

3) Look for the name of the generator related to the compiler in the computer.
for example VS2010 : "Visual Studio 10"

4) Run in the metis directory: .\vsgen -G "<GEN>" (change <GEN> by what found in the last step)

5) Wait... wait...

6) Open the solution file

7) Set VS to RELEASE for compiling

8) Build the solution (F7).

9) Get metis-mex code from https://github.com/dgleich/metismex and put it in a metismex directory inside the metis main directory.

10) Add to the make.m file (inside the metismex directory) the following case ot the switch:
    case 'PCWIN64'
        mex -O -v -largeArrayDims -I../include -I../libmetis -I../GKlib -L..\build\windows\libmetis\Debug -lmetis metismex.c -D__thread= -DWIN32 -DUSE_GKREGEX COMPFLAGS="$COMPFLAGS " LINKFLAGS="$LINKFLAGS"

NOTE: that you may need to change the directory that appears in the -L parameter of the compilation.

11) To compile metis-mex, you need to run the make.m command in the BCD-IC main directory.
